September 2024, Learner Corpus Research Conference (LCR 2024)

Learner Corpus Research Conference (LCR 2024) took place on 26-28 September in Tartu, Estonia. The research team, represented by Andreea Dinca, Ana-Maria Bucur and Madalina Chitez presented the paper entitled “Tracking phraseological inter-complexity: a corpus based contrastive analysis of learner English and Romanian novice academic writing”.

Our study investigates phraseological complexity in the academic writing of Romanian students in both English and Romanian. The primary aim is to identify phraseological inter-complexity, which refers to the correlation between the complexity of phrases used in their L1 (Romanian) and L2 (English). Additionally, the study examines the transfer of phraseological patterns from L1 to L2.
