September 2023, DIGITT workshop: #DIGITTworld – Digital Linguistics Workshop

On Thursday, September 28th, 2023, the 1st year BA students of the Faculty of Letters, History and Theology participated in a workshop prepared by the CODHUS research team, titles #DIGITTworld – Digital Linguistics Workshop.

In the first part of the workshop, Roxana Rogobete presented the history of the CODHUS centre (Centre for Corpus Related Digital Approaches to Humanities), which established the foundations of a tradition in the use of digital tools at the Faculty of Letters, History and Theology. Examples of activities carried out in the previous academic years were given, and students were encouraged to apply to CODHUS as interns or volunteers, since the center is a good opportunity both for training and for carrying out their own research.

In the second part of the workshop, Andreea Dincă carried out, together with the students, a series of practical activities, focused on corpus linguistics, central in the research activity of CODHUS. For example, they were able to observe, with the help of online tools, how the topics of a famous magazine (Vogue) developed in time and how the city of London is represented in literary texts.
