Workshop and conference presentations at Smart Diaspora

From April 10th to 13th, 2023, the Faculty of Letters, History and Theology, together with CODHUS hosted the workshop titled “Innovation at the intersection of Natural Language Processing and Digital Humanities: applicability to Romanian language and literature studies” within the “Smart diaspora – diaspora in higher education, science, innovation and entrepreneurship. Diaspora and its friends” event. Coordinated on behalf of ATU by CS II dr. habil. Mădălina Chitez, Director of CODHUS, the event gathered researchers in the fields of Digital Humanities and Natural Language Processing both from prestigious academic institutions abroad (Sorbonne Nouvelle, Paris X, University of Illinois – Chicago, University College London, University of Ottawa, University of Arizona, University of Valencia, University of Oslo, Université Louvain) and from university centers in the country (Politehnica University of Bucharest, University of Bucharest, Research Institute for Artificial Intelligence “Mihai Drăgănescu”, University “A. I. Cuza” University of Iasi, Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, “Lucian Blaga” University of Sibiu) or stakeholders from the private sector (Google Deep Mind, Adobe, NVIDIA, Reff&Asociații SPRL, Zetta Cloud, ZevoTech).

During this event, the CODHUS team had several presentations:

a. Alexandru Oravițan, postdoctoral researcher, member of LEMI project, presented the paper “LEMI: First steps – challenges, solutions?”

 

b. Mădălina Chitez and Roxana Rogobete presented the paper “Romanian Academic Writing Corpora: ROGER and EXPRES”
